SUN TRAIL IN SAULESKALNS
In "Sauleskalns", walking along the Sun trail, it is possible to get to know the sun path throughout the year and at the same time look at Latvian signs, each of which marks a certain Latvian celebration that is celebrated accroding to the sun path.
Trail can be walked in three ways:
- simply having a walk;
- guessing a crossword, search the answers in information stands;
- playing game "In Sun footsteps".
It can be played by anyone interested without the age limit, provided that the team must have at least one member who knows how to read. However, it is intended primarily for families and school-age children.
Team preferably must consist of not more than 4-5 members (can form several teams).
For game "guide" (regulations) and attributes (ball and pen) before the game you must look at the "Sauleskalns" hosts.
SUN TRAIL STORY
Sun trail in Sauleskalns
Sun trail is 0.6 km long walking trail along the Great Jugla.
It consists of 9 ancient Latvian signs that represents the flow of the sun year and marks the annual Latvian customs, Latvian celebrations. Signs are located under the corresponding cardinal points, creating sun road from night to sunset, from winter to autumn.
Each sign marks one of the Latvian celebrations or holidays. Among the other sign parks or trails in Latvia this one is characterized by the fact that the characters are kinetic - they, like the planets, the sun, and the man are on the move.
The average one sign size is 2x2 meters.
